Users of Microsoft Teams soared to a new daily record of 2.7 billion meeting minutes in one day, a 200% increase from 900 million on March 16, the company said on April 9.

Technology the need of the hour

Video conferencing, remote work software all thanks to AI and the technology that people can work from at their ease.

What the future holds for us?

Nicholas Bloom and graduate student James Liang, who is also a co-founder of the Chinese travel website Ctrip, gave the staff at Ctrip’s call centre the opportunity to volunteer to work from home for nine months. Half the volunteers were allowed to telecommute; the rest remained in the office as a control group. Survey responses and performance data collected at the conclusion of the study revealed that, in comparison with the employees who came into the office, the at-home workers were not only happier and less likely to quit but also more productive.

The companies will now be more into telecommuting no more expensive office space.

How effective is working from home?

Studies and research conducted have concluded that

  • Remote employees work additional days in a month.
  • The employees working remotely take longer breaks as compared to office employees but it been also said that they still work additional minutes in a day.
  • Office workers are unproductive for more time as compared to office employees.

Working from homes is flexible and convenient and is the necessity of the hour amid the outbreak of COVID-19, thus digitalization is a better option for the coming future.
