The Coca Cola Company emerged in the 19th century and though various marketing tactics emerged  as the most dominant in the world soft drink market by the 20th century and at present holds its position as the third most valued brand after Apple and Google. Coke products are sold in over 200 countries where the consumers drink an average of 1.8 billion serving of the beverage in a day.

The Coca-Cola Company produces concentrate, which is then sold to licensed Coca-Cola bottlers throughout the world. The bottlers, who hold exclusive territory contracts with the company, produce the finished product in cans and bottles from the concentrate, in combination with filtered water and sweeteners.

On the 3rd of February, Coca Cola India  announced its plan to take the home- grown carbonated cola brand Thums Up to South Asia before launching it globally and also hopes that India will emerge as the fifth largest market soon.

The plan to take the Thums Up brand to South Asia will possibly be done by March of 2018. At present except India, Thums Up is currently available in small quantities in the middle east. It has been reported by the company officials that Thums Up will also be launched in markets like Sri Lanks, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal.

According to the company officials, Thums Up is going to be the first Indian brand ever to become a USD 1 Billion brand much before its targeted timeline of 2020. Thums Up is is a 40 year old brand and was brought by Coca Cola in 1993 from Parle Bisleri Ltd. Coco Cola is also hopeful to turn the home grown mango drink maaza into a billion dollar brand by the year 2023.

According to Company president, Asia Pacific Group, John Murphy “India will soon become the fifth largest market for Coca Cola surpassing Japan”

Coca Cola India is focusing on making home grown drinks from various fruits that are grown in various parts of the country.
