During a two-day visit of Uzbekistan’s President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, India-Uzbekistan agreed to co-operate each other in terms of visa-free travel of diplomatic passport holder, tourism, training and trafficking.

A Join statement said, “The two sides agreed to constitute an expert group between India and Uzbekistan to conduct a joint feasibility study and commence negotiations for India-Uzbekistan Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) by the end of 2018,” reported MoneyControl.

In order to enhance the commercial ties both the countries decided to contain the duties levied on goods traded with each other. The leaders stressed upon achieving a bilateral target of ₹7000 crores by the end of 2020.

The sides agreed to expand cooperation in the IT Sector. They expressed their readiness to explore possibilities of cooperation for the opening of branches of Indian Universities/Institutions in the IT, Tourism and hotel management sector in Uzbekistan,”  stated the joint statement.

The bilateral trade agreement inked by India include support in military schools, technology, science, and health and medicine.

Narendra Modi during the Monday talks thanked Uzbekistan, who earlier this helped India to become a member of Ashgabat Agreement.
