According to the government, India’s unemployment rate went down by 0.3 per cent from the year 2017-18 to the year 2018-19. During July 2017 to June 2018, India’s unemployment rate was 6.1 per cent. It came down to 5.8 per cent during the period of July 2018 to June 2019. Labour Force Participation also increased marginally in the year 2018-19 from 36.9 per cent of the previous year corresponding period to 37.5 per cent and worker population ratio went up to 35.3 per cent from 34.7 per cent. The information was shared by the ministry of statistics and programme implementation. The data was collected through the Annual Periodic Labour Force Survey.

Urban India unemployment rate went down to 7.7 per cent in the year 2018-19 from 7.8 per cent in the year 2017-18 while Rural India unemployment went down to 5 per cent from 5.3 per cent. Also, overall female Participation went up to 18.6 per cent from 17.5 per cent. About 4,20,757 people were surveyed for the year 2018 to the year 2019.
