Indian budget carrier, Indigo is seeking to add 20-25 A327 Neos to its fleet in this summer under its plan for expanding its domestic and international network.

The airline has ordered 125 A321 Neos and is expecting the arrival of 48 of them by the end of year. Also, Over 50% of the new destinations could be on international routes, said Indigo Airlines chief commercial officer William Boulte.

Boulte who was speaking at the inaugural event of Delhi-Istanbul flight said the carrier remains bullish over its expansion plan in China and other international routes. “We are looking very seriously into other points in Southeast Asia, notably Vietnam and Myanmar. We also are looking at Saudi Arabia on the West side,” he said.

“Over half of our expansion this year will be international and this will take our international capacity from 15% to 20%.We had slots with Gatwick but they expired,” he said. “However, we are looking at Istanbul as an option as well.”

The budget carrier is also planning to start flying operations to London this year, he added

Boulte after the inaugural of Delhi-Istanbul also said that the flight is currently operated via Doha due to closure of air space by Pakistan. For now Indigo has started a daily flight to Istanbul and soon will add one more flight to Istanbul.

The airline has also announced flights from more Indian cities to overseas destinations including China, Vietnam, Myanmar, UK and Saudi Arabia.
