Delhi airport has been named as the best Indian airport and has received 4 star rating from Skytrax in its world airport report.

Skytrax is an consultancy firm and publishes an index over its website ranking the best 100 airports in a top to bottom list. This years prestigious award was given at the Terminal Expo 2019. The Skytrax Airport award is given on the basis of vote by customers or passengers in a global airport customer satisfaction survey.

India’s Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport which was at 59th number in the global list was the best Indian as well as central Asian airport. This year the airport performed better in index taking a 8 position jump as compared to 2018 index. Commenting on this feat Delhi International airport said thanks in a tweet on Thursday.

The Skytrax index was topped by Singapore Changi Aiport  and it for the 7th consecutive time that Changi Airport has topped the list. Singapore Changi Airport is known for its rooftop swimming pool, 24 hours open movie theater and its shopping spots. Soon in April, its Jewel Changi Terminal will feature the words tallest indoor waterfall.

“To be voted the World’s Best Airport for the seventh consecutive year is a truly fabulous achievement for Changi Airport, and this award continues to underline the airport’s popularity with international air travellers,” Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax said.

The second spot in the index was claimed by Tokyo International Airport (Haneda), which pushed back the Incheon International Airport to third position. Last year, Incheon Aiport was at 2nd spot while Tokyo International Airport was at 3rd spot.

The other Indian airports which made to the top 100 list were Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport which slipped by 1 position compared to previous year, while the Rajiv Gandhi Hyderabad International Airport was at number 66 taking a gain of 10 positions compared with previous year. Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport was at number 69.
