Petrol Pumps

As petrol pumps have decided to be on strike on 16 June. To resolve this problem Indian Oil Corporation(IOC) have decided to explain the implementations of the daily revision in petrol and diesel prices. Daily revision of prices was first tested in the five cities. After success there, it will be implemented in the whole country on June 16.

IOC Chairman, Sanjiv Singh said on Monday that this would not effect petrol pump operators. He also stated “Whatever they were doing at the 15-day frequency, they will be required to do daily. That is the only change”.

The association said “Unless the price is pushed automatically through the automation system the petrol dealers are not ready to do it manually or fetch the price on a daily basis as being advised by the oil marketing companies. This manual intervention can lead to errors and delays in the operation of the petrol pump”.

About 10,000 out of 26,000 petrol pumps are already automated while the remaining will be automated by 2018. In this automated system, the prices change automatically. Singh stated that they are not forcing the petrol pump owners to change their prices daily at midnight while the association asks the owners to change the prices till 7 a.m. when they start with their selling.

IOC will provide the daily prices by LED screens at petrol pumps, toll-free number, social media posts, mobile apps as well as through SMS.
