Aadhar Card

The insurance regulator, IRDAI has decided to link to extend its duration of linking 12 digit unique identification number Aadhaar with different insurance policies until the Supreme Court comes on to a decision.

The Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition stated that the deadline of linking Aadhaar would be increased till the matter is finally sorted and judgment is pronounced.

To all life, general and standalone general insurers, the authority claimed that “For the existing insurance policies, the date of linking Aadhaar would be increased”.

For the upcoming new policies, a customer is permitted six months from the date of commencement of account based relationship to submit the Aadhaar number and PAN.

You have to log in to the insurer’s website where policy details would be asked along with personal details for verification. If the verification gets complete it might take a few days, then you will be able to update the Aadhaar number.

If the insurer fails to provide an online facility, the linkage can be done by filling up a form at a company branch. Aadhaar and PAN card details are needed to complete the process.

If the Aadhaar Number is not available, the policyholder would be asked to provide proof of application of enrollment for Adhaar. The aadhaar linkage can also be done by calling the customer care call center.
