Is Ola Electric Car Roll Out On Way? Check Out CEO Bhavish Aggarwal TweetSource: Twitter

Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal shared a glimpse of an Ola electric car on Tuesday on Twitter, perhaps hinting at the possible launch of the company’s electric car.

Agarwal shared the image a day after its green vehicle subsidiary raised $200 million at a valuation of $5 billion.

Aggarwal previously stated that the company is working on four-wheel electric vehicles. On Tuesday, he tweeted an image of an electric hatchback car with the Ola logo on the front. With an expanded windshield, the style teased in the image appears to be futuristic. The car in the tweet was a prototype, and the final product may differ somewhat.

A user under Bhavish’s tweet said, “Don’t jump before you can barely crawl! Such ‘secrets’ may be good for valuation but not for @OlaElectric’s credibility. Scooter needs to be sorted out first, before even thinking cars which is a completely different ball game that can’t be won with cash alone.” To which Aggarwal had a savage response. Check:

Ola Electric is trying to set its foot in the market of two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers for daily use, whereas luxury sedans and large pickup trucks that global players are focusing on.

In 2020, the company launched two models of electric scooters in India, under the series – the Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro, for which there was an overwhelming response. But, the path was full of obstacles for Ola, as it struggled to deliver the electric scooter to its initial customers.

Days after the launch, Ola started receiving complaints from customers complaining about the poor battery range and missing features which they promised to offere them. Ola later announced to upgrade S1 customers to S1 Pro hardware, including battery range, a hyper mode and so on.

Ola’s ‘FutureFactory‘ currently has an annual capacity of 10 million units and only manufactures two-wheeled electric scooters.

To pursue rolling out Ola electric cars, the company needs a separate factory.
