Kalanithi M Maran is the richest man in Tamil Nadu. He an Indian media tycoon who is the chairman and founder of Sun Group. His media group owns various television channels, newspapers, FM stations, periodicals and movie production house. Maran was also a major shareholder in Indian Airline Spicejet.

Maran started his career early in 1990, when he started a news magazine in Tamil and later went on to start Sun TV. He also won various awards which include Young Entrepreneur award by CNBC. Forbes magazine called him the ‘television king of southern India’.

2. Arun Pudur

Net Worth – 4 Billion USD

Arun Pudur is an Indian investor, businessman and entrepreneur. Arun is the founder and president of Celframe, a company which specializes in the production of office productivity software. Pudur has several businesses and investments in real estate, commodities and mining.

Pudur started his career at an early age of 13, when he started repairing scooters. After graduating from University of Bangalore, Pudur  owned several businesses before starting Celframe in 2001. Pudur earned his first million at 21 and became a billionaire at the age of 26.

3. Mallika Srinivasan

Net Worth – 2.3 Billion USD

Mallika Srinivasan is an Indian businesswoman who was born in 1959. She is chairperson and CEO of Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited, a tractor manufacturing company in Chennai. Her company has an annual revenue of 96 Billion and it deals with diesel engines, cylinders, engineering plastics, batteries etc.

Mallika holds various notable positions such as board member at AGCO, member of board at IIB Hyderabad, the business incubator at IIT Chennai etc. For her notable work, she has been awarded with various awrads which include woman leader of the year by forbes and one of the top 50 most powerful businesswoman in Asia.

4. Amm Vellayan

Net Worth – 1.3 Billion USD

Amm Vellayan is the executive chairman of Murugappa Group based in Chennai. He is also the chairman of Coromandel International Limited, EID Perry (India), Fertilizer association of India, AMM Educational Foundation etc.

Vellayan received his degree from Aston University and MBA from Warwick Business School in UK. He has worked in several fields in his life ranging from Business, trading, sports, manufacturing etc.

5. K M Mappillai

Net Worth – 1 Billion USD

K M Mappillai was born in a Syrian family in the state of Kerala in 1922. He is the member of the well known mamman family in south India. He is the founder of the company MRF Limited, a tire manufacturing company.

After graduating from Madras College, Mamman started his career with a toy manufacturing company. In 1952, mamman went on to start his own venture, MRF Limited, a tread rubber manufacturer. The company has grown up to become a INR 30 Billion company. In 1992, K mamman became the first south Indian industrialist to be awarded Padma Shri award.
