Maruti Suzuki Alto has become the best selling car for the month of June 2020 followed by Hyundai Creta. Maruti Suzuki reported that it sold 7298 of its units for the month of June while Hyundai Creta sold 7207 of its units in the same month. Maruti Suzuki has introduced the facelift of the Alto in April 2019, with the new feature of BS6 updated petrol engine. Alto was launched at a starting price of Rs. 2.94 lakh for the base Standard variant. Auto’s top-spec VXI variant price is up to Rs. 3.72 Lakh
The third spot has been achieved by a cousin of Creta’s alter ego, the Kia Seltos which witnessed 7114 units sales. Kia Seltos is being acknowledged for its good sales performance in the compact SUV space. Alto’s has been updated recently by the company in order to get 10 new features on the top variants. The company has also made premium features available on the lower variants of the compact SUV in order to make it a value for money proposition. Alto’s sales in the market are followed by Maruti Suzuki WagonR and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire which are in fourth and fifth position respectively.
But the overall car sales, even of two best-selling cars are performing really poorly due to the COVID induced Crisis. Prior to the lockdown, best selling cars like Alto used to witness car sales above 20,000 units.
