Microsoft introduces new password generator and password monitor features for Edge browser

Microsoft has recently rolled out an update for the Microsoft Edge browser. the update brings the Edge browser to version 88 and has various features like password generator, password monitor and others. With this new upgrade, Microsoft provides a built-in password generator that can be used while signing up for a new account or while changing up an existing password. It is an automatic process and users would be able to see the browser-recommended password drop down in the password field. If a user chooses this password, it will get automatically saved to the browser and sync among devices, as stated by Microsoft.

Along with this, the company also said that in case if any user’s password saved in the browser matches with the ones seen in the list of leaked credentials, Microsoft Edge will notify and prompt them to update their password. This feature is also known as Password Monitor and is said to scan for matches on the behalf of the user and is on by default. Another important feature of Microsoft Edge 88 version is the increased transparency in terms of data that is being accessed. It has a different layout for the permission section for sites with which users can share their location, camera, microphone and others.

Microsoft also added that we will be able to review, edit and reset site permissions and also see the permissions that has recently changed. It will be now easier to manage the privacy for the sites we visit. The company has also claimed that cookie management will be more easier and the browser will have an option to keep cookies they need for an optimal browsing experience and delete the third-party cookies they don’t instead of deleting all of them at once.
