Olectra Greentech Ltd (A Group Company of MEIL) , a Hyderabad-based electric bus manufacturer has received an order worth approximately Rs 140 crores from Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to provide 100 E-buses under the FAME-II scheme of the Government of India.

According to the deal, the buses have to be delivered within a span of 12 months. During the contact period, Olectra will also have to undertake the work of maintenance of the buses. All these buses will be deployed at Alipiri (Tirupathi) Depot. If this new order is combined to the total, then the total order book of Olectra has reached 1,450 buses.

Mr KV Pradeep, Chairman and Managing Director, Olectra Greentech Limited, said, We are blessed and happy to serve the devotees travelling to visit Lord Sri Venkateshwara on the Tirumala-Tirupati Ghat road. Our buses also contribute to preserving the rich ecology of Sheshachala forest and the Tirumala hills, Andhra Pradesh. Olectra Greentech committed to its efforts to reduce pollution levels through its efficient Electric Public Transport System. We are sure that our 100 buses will be successful in the state like in other states. Our E-buses have proved their reliability and efficiency. They are successfully running in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Surat, Dehradun, Silvassa, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Kerala.”

These buses with air-conditioners can accommodate 35+ passengers with a driver. The lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery is installed in the bus which allows it to cover the distance of 180 km on a single charge, depending upon traffic and passenger load conditions.

The high-tech bus includes a regenerative braking system that allows it to reclaim some of the kinetic energy lost when braking. According to the business, the high-power AC & DC charging mechanism allows the battery to fully recharge in 3-4 hours.

Olectra has travelled over four million kilometres on Indian roadways, reducing CO2 emissions by roughly 35,700 tonnes. Over 400 buses have been delivered to several states by the firm.
