PK Sinha, the cabinet secretary in central government has advised all the ministries and departments to set up GST cells in order to address the issues of industries, SMEs and general public.

In a letter written to secretaries of all the ministries and department, PK Sinha said that the GST cells should be equipped with a small core team of professionals headed by an economic advisor or someone from the ministry. In the letter, Sinha has also asked the departments to make sure that all the public centre units are GST compliant before the official roll out date. FYI, GST is set to roll out in India from July 1st.

The letter also recommends setting up GST cells under all the PSUs. It has asked the secretaries to hold meetings with the heads of these PSUs and to make sure that they have a resource person handy with knowledge of compliances, rules and acts of GST in order to provide proper information to the people reaching out to them.

In the same regards, revenue secretary in the central government, Hasmukh Adhia had written to all the secretaries about the need of promoting the basic features of GST to all the PSUs, so that, the implementation of the tax reform becomes easier.
