ISRO Space Facility

Applications from private players to use Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) facilities are being refined in the fast paced manner and more companies can register apply, said K Sivan, Chairman, ISRO.

This will take place through the fresh nodal agency IN-SPACE (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre) that was sanctioned by the Cabinet on Wednesday to foster private sector participation in space activities in the country.

In a conversation with media in a virtual meeting on Thursday, Sivan said, “In-SPACe will need 3-6 months to initiate, however companies can apply in the interim period.” “Private enterprises have already reached us to use the facilities and we are processing it in the fast track mode,” Sivan added further.

In-SPACE is a part of the government’s way to familiarise private sector participation in the space, which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared back in May 2020.

The newly-created IN-SPACE agency will impart a level playing field for private companies to use Indian space infrastructure, said Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Wednesday in a press guideline.
