The Telangana government on Saturday announced that US-based telecom giant Qualcomm is planning to establish a campus worth ₹3,000 crores in Hyderabad.

The company in a mandate states, “Qualcomm will be investing $400 million (₹3,000 crores) to set up their campus in Hyderabad, Telangana. This is one of the largest investment by a marquee company after the formation of the state”

According to a Ministry statement, The telecom equipment maker will soon set up a meeting with K.T Rama Rao, Telangana’s Minister for IT and Industries, reported news18.

Reportedly, Qualcomm is mulling to incept the establishment in 2019. The first phase of the project constitutes a built-up space of 1.7million sqft which can house at least 10,000 employees. The company has already marked its presence in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru.

The State IT Minister said, “By setting up its mega-campus in Hyderabad, Qualcomm joins the elite list of firms that have their largest presence outside of their headquarters in Hyderabad. This is indeed a big boost to Telangana, the electronics & semi-original equipment manufacturers, regulators, startups and R&D engineers.”
