Zoho, one of the leading SaaS platform for business related softwares, is all set to establish a major development centre in Tirupati. This was announced by Information Technology Minister of Andhra Pradesh Nara Lokesh.

Interestingly, the announcement comes just a day after Xerox’s Conduent agreed to establish its development centre in Visakhapatnam. It is reported that the firm, which is known for operating from tier-II cities, is setting up a small unit with 150 employees in a leased premises.

Commenting on this, Nara Lokesh, IT Minister of Andhra Pradesh, said,

Zoho, which is into cloud ERP services, has committed to commence their operations from Tirupati by November. Zoho wants to set up a major development centre at Tirupati and has sought land allocation.

He further said that the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India has also showed interest in setting up its data centre in Visakhapatnam while Wipro has evinced interest in building its blockchain practice in the city.

The state government is also trying to bring in regulators like the Reserve Bank of India and the Securities and Exchange Board of India to the coastal city. It earlier promised to create one lakh jobs in information technology and two lakh in electronics by 2019.

Lokesh claims that the government has already created over 22,000 jobs in IT and around 40,000 in electronics so far. Several top global and domestic companies have set up or announced plans to establish their offices and factories in Andhra Pradesh. He further reveals that 200 acres of land has been designated for IT companies in the upcoming greenfield capital city Amaravati.

Earlier this week, Zoho entered into an agreement with Spiceworks to provide Zoho Assist — its free, online remote support application, to the millions of IT professionals who use Spiceworks.
