Vistara Airlines, a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, will have new Chief Commercial Officer from Jan 1, 2020. The present Chief Commercial Officer Sanjiv Kapoor has resigned from the airlines and his tenure will come to an end on December 31, 2019.

Vistara spokesperson confirmed his resignation and said that airline’s Chief Strategy Officer Vinod Kannan will take over his responsibilities at the airline. He has resigned due to ‘personal reasons’, and his last day in the airline will be December 31, read the statement of the airlines.

Sanjiv Kapoor started his aviation journey with Northwest Airlines in the US in 1997. He had joined the Vistara airlines four years back and played a major role in expanding the airlines. Vistara expanded from 9 aircraft and 45 flights a day to 39 aircraft and over 200 flights a day under his four-year of successful tenure. Vistara also expanded into international operation in his regime. Prior to this venture, he was associated with SpiceJet.

After the confirmation of his resignation, Sanjiv Kapoor took to twitter to express gratitude to his team.

“As part of the transition process since Kapoor’s resignation, some of his portfolios had been moved under Kannan’s leadership, while some are still in the movement process,” a spokesperson for the airline said.

In his tenure at SpiceJet, the airlines saw the changes in from the Maran family to present chief Ajay Singh. Sanjiv Kapoor was also associated with Bain and Company, and Temasek Holdings in the past.
