Homegrown manufacturer Tata Motors recorded its highest quarterly volume sales in the second quarter of this financial year, after nearly ten years. With 83,933 units sold, the company saw a 53 percent YoY rise in sales.

Despite the overlooking global chip crisis and the pandemic, Tata Motors has been slowly striding the upper graph, especially in the recent months. The carmaker is currently the third most sold brand after Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. Models such as Altroz and Nexon have been seeing a warm a response from buyers, and have been the most sought-after models of the company.

The seven-seater midsize SUV inspired by Harrier launched earlier this year, Tata Safari, also saw great demands. The strategy of coming up with new variants and upgrades, keeping in mind the Indian driver, has happened to work for the brand.

The Tigor NRG made a comeback with the BSVI 1.2-litre petrol engine quite recently, while the Dark Edition Altroz, Nexon, and Nexon EV also debuted some time back. In early 2020, Tata facelifted the Tiago, Tigor and Nexon which helped the company to lure in a lot of customers this year.

Around the same period, to further strengthen Tata’s domestic portfolio, the Nexon EV and Altroz also made their way into the dealerships. The Nexon EV, in particular, has emerged as India’s best-selling passenger electric vehicle. The arrival of the updated Tigor EV based on the Ziptron technology has consolidated the EV range in an impressive manner. The Altroz and Nexon have also registered their best monthly sales numbers recently, with the sale of 25,729 units In September 2021 as against 21,200 units during the same period last year with a YoY growth of 21.4 percent. Tata recorded these numbers when all other mainstream manufacturers could only record negative volume sales for the industry as a whole saw a decline of close to 37 percent.

Tata’s zero-emission vehicle sales observed a nearly threefold growth with the Nexon EV and Tigor EV, helping the brand in crossing 1,000 units for the second month in a row while the quarterly sales stood at 2,704 units.
