Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian subsidiary of Toyota is now focusing on the self-charging electric vehicles taking a futuristic approach to meet the cleaner fuel demands and keep the environment clean.

Toyota has been banking on Hybrid and cleanser fuel cars from quiet some time and is considered as the leader in the hybrid and cleaner fuel segment in India.

Now for the introduction of self charging electric vehicles Toyota Motors has collaborated with Suzuki Motors with a aim to jointly work together for the development of such next generation technologies.

“Powertrain solution like self-charging electric vehicles will offer a more viable option, being a relevant technology from the emission point of view with Euro 6 (BS-VI) norm coming up by 2020,” Shekhar Viswanathan, Vice Chairman and Whole-Time Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said.

“The electrified Camry is so sophisticated that using the currently available Bharat Stage IV fuels, it meets the applicable emission levels set for the Bharat Stage VI which are due to be introduced in 2020,” he added.

To comply with the standard emission norms, the Japanese automobiles company is ready to upgrade all such units with BSIV norms. Toyota has said that it is progressively moving for the next generation, battery-powered cars from next year. The company plans to launch mass-market battery electric vehicles (BEV) in China. After the introduction in China these will be launched in India and other international markets.
