With businesses trickling back to work, Uber India has launched its Corporate Shuttle service today. This new approach to conveyance will allow employees to get to work and back safely at affordable rates, in these times woven in a pandemic.

The Corporate Shuttle is going to be a personalized commute service made available to companies, with seating capacities for anywhere between 10-50 employees in a single-vehicle. The company, in a statement released on Wednesday, said,” Using Uber’s core technology to ensure a reliable, safe and cost-effective ride, the service helps companies deliver on their sustainability goals by helping decongest cities, reduce pollution and free up office parking spaces.”

A list of safety measures would be taken into account while delivering this service. This would include a Go Online Checklist, a mandatory mask policy for both riders and drivers, pre-tip mask verification selfies for drivers, and mandatory driver education on safety SOPs.

The initiative is going to be implemented in 7 cities, namely Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore. Uber Corporate Shuttle would generate shared benefits for both employees and businesses, paving way for a sustainable future for these cities.

This service would be the first-ever attempt by Uber’s High-Capacity Vehicles program to develop a product specifically designed to resolve problems faced by office-goers and other emerging markets in India. Uber’s technology team in Bangalore is leading this project and is contributing a major amount of work for the same.

Abhinav Mittoo, Head of Uber for Business, India & South Asia, commenting on the launch of Uber Corporate Shuttle, said, “At Uber, we are focused on meeting the changing needs of our customers. Uber Corporate Shuttle helps companies put their employees first. They get to and from work safely, without the stress of traffic jams, expense of parking and car maintenance.” “And by making it easy for employees to give up their cars, the service can reduce congestion, pollution and emissions in our cities. It is an honour to help India get back to work safely after a tough 20 months,” he added.

Known name at a global scale, Uber has been functioning in India since 2013 and is currently serving more than 1.5 lakh organisations around the world with its business innovations and solutions.
