In wake of gruesome crimes against women in the country, Delhi government has come up with a new initiative to ensure safety of women in the national capital.

Addressing a press conference, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that CCTVs will be installed in 5,500 DTC and cluster buses, 3 in each. He said, “10 panic buttons and automatic vehicle location system will be set up in each bus. A command centre will be set up for all buses. It’ll be helpful in maintaining security of women.”

The Chief Minister further said that three CCTV cameras and ten panic buttons will be installed in each bus, adding that the move is aimed at ensuring the safety of women in the city. Kejriwal said the new buses which are being procured already have CCTV cameras, panic buttons and Global Positioning System (GPS).

This comes after a list of horrific rape and murder took place in Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and Bihar.
