Last Saturday, I happened to visit the other part of the city, well yeah, I say that the other part of the city just because covering the distance to that place from my house takes over an hour even at no traffic times. Bundled with the tiredness of the hectic week and hunger of the day, I searched for a place which could give a good atmosphere along with fulfilling my wish to have a good meal over the drinks while enjoying the IPL match.
However, the wish was not very regular and it had to take time until we actually found a place which could satisfy my needs for the moment. At the Soul Space Arena Mall, I encountered with SBX – Sports Box, which looked pretty much promising to be our host for that evening.
SBX – Sports Box, as the name suggests is a place with pretty much options to enjoy your time over a weekend or a regular evening. The atmosphere right after entering in SBX is pretty cool which helps you forget the stress and relieve the tiredness. Right at entrance, there is a pool table and a table soccer along with other options like Carrom etc. All these things at the entrance encourage anyone visiting there to try out those things and have pretty good time right before the mean which is served a little inside.
The dining space, however, looks pretty well comparatively. At one side, there is a huge bar and at the other side, there is a big screen to play the latest sports event going on around the world. The SBX has been started with a theme of excitement for Love and Music. The SBX is a perfect place for the working professionals to de-stress after a tired day and enjoy some quality time with colleagues and family members. SBX is officially a part of Galaxy Entertainment Corporation Limited with operations live ever since 1999. In total, Galaxy Entertainment Ltd has various food courts, Sports Box, Gaming Zones and a lot more stuff across the country.
The inside environment is pretty much addicting with a nice music in background and a live football/Cricket match on the screen. There is nothing else someone like me can demand for. Still, we had made the reservation, so there was no problem in getting us to the allotted seats where we could finally put something in the crawling tummies.
The menu, however, interested me a lot. The options in the drinks folder are hard to count. On the first few pages, I saw the normal drink names, however, from the middle of the drinks menu, I started to see some familiar names even in a condition where I have not even touched any kind of drink ever. Later I realized that the names of the drinks in SBX were same as some of the famous sports personalities across the world. Some of the names which I can still remember are Maria Sharapova, Kevin Petersen, Sania Mirza etc.
That seemed pretty interesting and I really wanted to try out the same, but damn. I could not. However, one of the guy visiting SBX with me tried 2 of those and the praise coming out of his mouth while he was drunk could say a lot.
I have always been fascinated by the starters and the fascination increases even more when it is a non veg restaurant serving chicken and mutton. The same happened that day, we tried around 4 starters named as Malai Tikka, Paneer Achaari, Sichuwan Pepper Garlic chicken and chicken wings. The taste did prove, why SBX is pretty successful in various parts of the country with a lot of outlets. Specially Malai Tikka (Which is my all time best starter) was something I wanted to eat more, however, I had to control. :/
For those, who like to eat in the open air, SBX has enough place to accommodate guest in an open space right after crossing the dining area, where you can see Tandoor and grilled items being cooked.
One of the best thing I found in SBX was that they did not have a buffet system which is common these days in almost every restaurant. One of the fact which proved this right is that the theme of the outlet is based on music and sport and guests would not like to stand and roam to grab themselves some food when an important match is going on the screen or when they are too tired at the end of the day. The main course, for us, included Southern Spice Chicken curry and Thai Green Curry (both of those curries were cooked with proper south Indian recipe and fried in coconut oil) and butter Naan. The desserts were again something which made me get a lot of added saliva in my mouth the moment I tasted them.
The evening at SBX – Sports field was about to get over, and we decided to head back. However, the experience there was one of the best relieved one, with the great environment inside along with quality food and cocktails/mock-tails. For those, who look for a quality place to visit after the office, SBX can be a good choice.
