LG announces 65-inch OLED rollable TV at CES 2019

LG Signature R

LG seems to be on a roll with its TV launches at CES 2019. Recently the company has announced a plethora of OLED monitors from gargantuan 88-inch 8K OLED monitors to car monitors. Now, the company has officially announced that it is bringing a 65-inch rollable OLED TV to the market.

Dubbed as Signature TV R, the television has an ultra-thin rollable display that could be contained in a box with a press of a button. LG has originally showcased a prototype of rollable OLED tv at last year’s CES. The company has been working on a foldable Tv for a long time and at CES 2019, LG has finally taken the wraps off its final product.

The advantage of a rollable TV is that it better utilizes the space given you can contain it in a box if you aren’t looking at it.

LG’s rollable TV R has three viewing modes. The Full View mode gives the viewers a complete 65-inch display,  The Line View mode partially shows the TV where the display shows the clock and pictures or music control without revealing the whole display and the Zero View mode where the display is completely hidden.

Signature TV R has all the standard features one might expect from a high-end television, including 4K Ultra-HD resolution, HDR support for Dolby Vision and HDR10, Alpha 9 Generation 2 processor, WebOS 4.5 and ThinQ AI.

The Signature R also supports a feature for Apple AirPlay and HomeKit and is interactable through Siri and Alexa.

An LG representative has told CNET that it would take 17 years to wear out the rollable panels of the TV hence busting the durability concerns.

While LG is yet to announce the price and availability of the TV, it is being said that Signature R will come to market during the second half of 2019.
