When 8K resolution was announced own TVs, we had a pretty fair idea that it is going to be an expensive piece of tech to own, however, we did not estimate it would be this expensive. Sony has released pricing and availability information about the complete 2019 TV line-up, and while there are plenty of competitively priced options to get excited about, the company’s 98-inch 8K LED/LCD TV isn’t one of them.
Sony is bringing six different series of TVs in 2019 compromising of 17 sizes ranging from 43-inch to 98-inch and everything in between. All the TVs from Sony would run on Android and would support Apple AirPlay 2 and Homekit.
Sony is bringing some familiar features to its new TV lineup, including proprietary X1 Ultimate picture processing chip on premium models, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support, and Netflix Calibrated mode, while IMAX Enhanced would debut as the latest branded feature.
Each of the six series caters to a different need, so without further ado, here is the lineup starting with the most expensive to the most affordable and practical of the bunch.
Sony Master Series Z9G 8K HDR TV
The 98-inch Z9G 8K TV cost $70,000 (roughly ₹48,80,000). That is quite an expensive TV. Interestingly enough, the 85-inch variant of the same TV cost $13,000 (roughly ₹9,06,000). Although that is still a high price for TV, what is more absurd is the $57,000 (roughly ₹39,70,000) price difference between the two variants over 13 diagonal inches.
The Z9G comes equipped with Sony’s X1 Ultimate processor, which is a must given the TV relies heavily on upscaling. Since 8K content is not widely available as of now, Sony Z9G would be upscaling lower resolution content in order to fill all 33 million pixels on display. Upscaling requires a lot of processing power, therefore, it makes sense for Sony to include its best processor in the Z9G. It is also the processor that Sony uses in some of its 4K TVs, and it does an outstanding job in those models.

Sony Master Series A9G 4K OLED TV
The A9G is Sony’s most elaborate OLED TV till date. As the Master Series branding suggests, the TV will have the aforementioned X1 Ultimate processor coupled with an extremely thin profile. The TV has Acoustic Surface Audio Plus, which uses the technology that turns the screen of the TV into a speaker. It has not conventional speakers, except for the subwoofer at the back that creates bass for a full, robust sound. This time around, Sony has included more actuators to vibrate the screen, so users can expect even higher performance than prior years.
The A9G also includes Netflix Calibrated Mode and a new feature called IMAX Enhanced with DTS Audio.
- 55-inch: $3,500 (roughly ₹2,44,000). Available in May
- 65-inch: $4,500 (roughly ₹3,13,600). Available in May
- 77-inch: $8,000 (roughly ₹5,57,500). Available in May
Sony A8G 4K OLED TV
The A8G is a step down from the company’s Master Series, nevertheless, this OLED TV is what most people would look forward to buying. Like the previous TVs on the list, the A8G features the X1 Ultimate processor as well coupled with highlights which the company is calling object-based HDR remaster, along with 4K HDR Super Bit Mapping and dual-database processing.
It is not clear if the A8G also features the Acoustic Surface Audio Plus technology.

- 65-inch: $3,500 (roughly ₹2,44,000). Available in May
Sony X950G 4K TV
This series from Sony would have die-hard fans of the company gravitating towards it, given an update is in the cards this year. The X950G uses X1 Ultimate processor from Sony along with X-Wide angle, which refers to the TV’s improved off angle viewing quality. The series will offer IMAX enhanced mode and Netflix Calibrated mode along with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support. The series has a wide range of sizes including an 85-inch option.
No availability dates were provided for these options (except the 85-inches), so we presume they will be available immediately.

- 65-inch: $2,200 (roughly ₹1,53,000)
- 75-inch: $3,500 (roughly ₹2,44,000)
- 85-inch: $5,000 (roughly ₹3,48,500)
Sony X850G 4K HDR TV
This series from Sony is quite bizarre given it only comes as in an 85-inch model and lacks a lot of features that are included on other series, including Netflix Calibrated and IMAX Enhanced. This TV comes with X1 Ultimate processor and some sound enhancements from specially positioned tweeters. Sony’s website does, however, show 55-, 65-, and 75-inch variants in the works.

Sony X800G 4K HDR TV
Lastly, we have Sony’s entry point into its all-premium TV line-up. This series has the most screen sizes and the least boasts from Sony. TVs in the series come with expanded color and 4K upscaling.
- 43-inch: $650 (roughly ₹45,300)
- 49-inch: $750 (roughly ₹52,200)
- 55-inch: $900 (roughly ₹62,700)
- 65-inch: $1,200 (roughly ₹83,600)
- 75-inch: $2,000 (roughly ₹1,40,000)
