According to the Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, over 15,791 teachers have been appointed on a contractual basis in the Government schools of Himachal Pradesh. Addressing to the State Assembly on Saturday, he informed that out of 15,791 teachers, 11,035 teachers have been appointed to work under the Parent Teachers Association-Grant in Aid (PTA-GIA) contract, proposed by the government. The remaining 4,756 teachers were appointed to work under Primary Assistant Teachers (PAT) and Parent Teachers Association (PTA) policies.
He informed that the government has decided to regularise these policies, hence while announcing the Budget on February 9, the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur informs that PTA and PAT teachers will be provided with equal salary being paid to regular teachers.
He also informed that the issue of regularization of teachers is under judicial consideration and three subpoenas to that matter have already been pending in the Supreme Court. During the State Assembly, He further asserted that 123 posts for principles in government senior secondary schools are lying vacant in the state.
