Srinagar administration is planning to bring the Delhi education model to the schools of Srinagar district. According to the reports the infrastructure of government schools of Srinagar is below average. There are total of 11,704 gov. schools in the valley amongst them 529 schools reside in Srinagar district.

Taking the issue in consideration the administration has sent 5 member team yesterday, on 7th April to study ‘Delhi Model’ of Delhi government schools to replicate their education system in Srinagar schools. 20 schools will be taken as a pilot project and the project will be taken forward this month.

Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, who is the District Magistrate of Srinagar quoted “We have funds that have not been utilised for many years. We will utilise them for improving the schools and providing scholarships to students.”

Manish Sisodia on this, hit a statement of applause and tweeted, ” It is a great initiative. The Delhi government will love to extend any help and support to ensure quality education for my Kashmiri brothers and sisters. Quality education can solve what guns cant.”

One of the officials of education department told The Tribune that there is a need to completely reform the government schools of the valley so that the dropout rate decreases. If the Delhi school model is implemented, it will motivate children from disadvantaged backgrounds to continue their education.
