Addressing the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Distinguished Alumni Award Ceremony 2018 on January 28, 2019, the Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj called India as the best educational hub for the world. According to her renowned educational institutions like IITs, IIMs, NITs and state-of-art universities are here to impart world-class knowledge.

“Indian education system has been developed since the 5th century BC, wherefrom the institutions like Nalanda, Takshshila and Vikramshila have been commendable,” she said

She also stressed the bilateral process of education and career in govt jobs saying, “It’s not a unilateral process. Rather, it’s a matter of mutual exchange of ideas.”

She also emphasized on the interesting knowledge domestic students can gain through students incoming from foreign countries through rich-culture exchange and cross-fertilization of ideas.

She also discussed about the importance of education to solve external issues of the country and also it helps to identify solutions related to climate change, protection of the environment, world peace, energy security, food security, and equality.

She stressed on the fact that students from foreign countries can be held sharing solutions to the problems through their respective past experiences, contributing towards growth and dynamic development together.

Sushma Swaraj stated, “The unequal growth and disharmony or threat-to-peace are the biggest threats that the world is countering. Education has the power to address the aforementioned contentions together. “
