After having lessons in Ramayana, the Jawaharlal Nehru University has dediced to take a leaf out of Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita on handling the crisis of COVID-19. Padam Shri award winning professor Subhash Kak from the University of Subhash Kak, USA will be conducting the lecture through a webinar. He is also one of the member of the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Advisory Council since the year 2018.

The lecture will take place from May 7 at  6 pm in the evening. It will be of one hour. It is being coordinated by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship and Centre for Media Studies, JNU. The registrations for the programme are on and will be held with the Zoom app.

The institute is organising a series of lectures that would play a major role in creating awareness against the coronavirus..

Earlier, the university had held a series of lectures on Ramayana, which faced some opposition. The varsity V-C had stated in a reply that Mahatma Gandhi always spoke upon how Lord Ram taught us to uphold truth, justice, equality and equanimity even in a worst situation. When we’re fighting COVID and going through a bad phase we thought it can be great lessons to learn from Ramayan and strengthen ourselves. There is no valid reason for anyone to oppose it.

Currently,  the university is closed and exams are being conducted on a  digital platform. JNU is the first university to conduct the exams online. For the students who could not attend the exams due to any reason, certain provisions are likely to be made. In an official statement, the university stated that around 800 students are currently staying at the campus of varsity.
