The All India Institute of Medical Sciences and University College of London have collaborated and signed an MoU for conducting research-oriented activities, staff and student exchange programmes, research fellowship programmes, workshops together.

They will conduct studies related to joint research, focussing on the environment and its effect on Indians, along with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi who will take part in the research.

“Pollution is a rising concern in India. The research will focus on the impact of environment, particularly pollution, on the health of pregnant women, lungs and maternal health,” Professor Michael Arthur, UCL President, said.

Along with University College of London, AIIMS has also collaborated with International Centre for Genomic Medicine in Neuromuscular Diseases (ICGMN), headed under the UCL.
The ICGMN will help gather resources from various countries including India, the UK, Brazil, South Africa, and Turkey and aims to conduct advanced studies of genetic diagnosis and therapy for patients with muscle wasting neuromuscular diseases, including motor neuron disease and muscular dystrophy.
