Exams Will Be Held As Per Schedule: JNU Vice Chancellor

Amidst the indefinite protests against the Hostel fee hike by JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) students, the semester end-term examinations have commenced from today. JNU Students have boycotted the end-term examinations until their demands get filled. Despite JNU Administration warning of students boycotting the exams that they might lose their studentship. Furthermore, the JNU students’ decision of boycotting semester examinations was supported by the JNU Teachers’ Association (JNUTA).

JNU students have been on the protest for over a month against the Hostel fee hike including food, accommodation and security. There demands from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and JNU Administration was to safeguard the education system by decreasing the fee hike in the central university. The JNU students’ protest was backed up by the Students from across the country.

The JNU administration released a circular on December 4 which cautioned the students about losing their studentship if they do not attend their semester exams. The students will be ineligible to register in the next semester and will cease to be the bonafide student of the university.

Although, this move was discouraged by the JNU Teachers’ Association who backed up JNU students’ decision of boycotting the end-term examinations. The teachers said they will not participate in the mockery made by the JNU Administration as they are just to bully teachers.

The JNU Protest has resulted in academic loss and disruptive administrative functioning. The Administration, teachers, and students are disturbed by the fabled protest that has shaken the Education system of the country.
