Bangalore University will be taking new registrations for nearly 500 Ph.D. Scholars as per its new notifications approved by syndicate on Thursday.
According to the University officials, they will be declaring the research positions in different departments soon.
According to notifications, scholars will also have the opportunity to teach. To get into BU as a Ph.D. scholar, aspiring candidates will have to clear the examination after which they will be admitted. SC and ST Scholars will get the scholarship and other researchers will be paid as per norms of Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Currently, there are about 182 scholars at Bangalore University in Arts department, which were mainly registered between 2010-2015, about 283 in arts optional, 642 in the science department, 215 in commerce, education law and engineering, but only a few of them have been able to complete their researches by the end of 2018.
To bring down the burden from professors guiding more number of PhDs, now assistant professors can guide 4 PHDs, associate professors 6 and professors 8. Earlier there was a clause of 3 years experience for assistant professors but now that clause has been removed.
