Children’s Day in India is celebrated on November 14th every year as it marks the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru ji was called ‘Chacha Nehru‘ by the kids as he had a deep affection for children, and his birthday is celebrated every year to honour his love for them.

Government’s Transformative Initiatives For Children’s Upliftment

Here are some of the notable initiatives undertaken by the Government of India for the holistic upliftment of children in India.

1. Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS)

ICDS is a flagship program in India that was launched with the aim of improving the health and nutrition of children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.

The program operates through a network of Anganwadi centers, which are village-level childcare centers. These centers serve as a crucial link between communities and primary healthcare facilities.

5. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA)
