The Career Conclave 2019, started on January 28, scheduled to end on January 31, revealed that the Class XII students of all Delhi government schools were observed preferring Protective services as compared to other categories introduced. The Protective Services include Army, Border Security Force, Delhi Police, and Air Force.

The First Conclave held in May 2018, last year also saw these categories were famous among all. With this second conclave held, new categories are also introduced including Delhi Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, last year hotel management was in great demand.

This year, it was also observed that the category of teaching also turned to be famous, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) was one such category. A stall for Institute of Chartered Accountants was also introduced this year.

“This year, a new demand we have been receiving from students is that IITs be invited to put up stalls,” said an official from the EVGC branch of the education department.

The Largest number of stalls of the conclave were covered by technical and vocational institutes such as Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, International Polytechnic for Women, Arth Institute, Tech Mahindra SMART Academy for Healthcare, Vivo Healthcare Institute and Ambedkar University’s School of Vocational Studies.

Other varsities which have put up stalls are Ambedkar University, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, and IGNOU.“We do give priority to inviting vocational programmes because very few students from government schools go on to pursue higher education. We can only invite a limited number of stalls. We will analyze the feedback from students, which will be taken into consideration for invitations next year,” said the official.

The Conclave was held after the personality and aptitude tests that took place in schools for Class XII students. Due to this only a limited number of students will be able to attend the conclave.
