CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has released a letter asking schools to exempt the board exam registration fees of students who have lost their parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A letter released by CBSE stated, “CBSE vide letter No.CBSE/LOC/2021 dated 16.09.2021 has communicated to the schools that the List of Candidates for Class X and XII Examination 2021-22 will start from 17.09.2021 and continue till 30.09.2021 without late fees and thereafter, till 09.10.2021 with late fees.”

But taking the current pandemic scenario into consideration, The board gave relief to the affected students who have lost their parents or guardians due to COVID-19.

The letter further dates, the letter said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the country adversely and keeping in view of its impact on students, CBSE, as a special measure for Academic Session 2021-22, has decided that neither the examination fees nor the registration fees will be charged by the Board from the students who have lost both parents or surviving parent or legal guardian/adoptive parents due to Covid-19 pandemic.”

So the CBSE has asked schools not to take late examination fees from students of Classes 10 and 12 whose parents died due to COVID-19. The letter inculcated that, “the schools, while submitting the LOC, will provide the details of these students after verifying the genuineness.”

So CBSE will not charge the board exam registration fees from children who lost parents to COVID-19. The decision was taken as a special measure for Academic Session 2021-22, keeping in view the impact of COVID on students.

CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said, neither the examination fees nor the legal fees will be charged by the Board from the students who have lost both parents/surviving parent/legal guardian due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
