The Central Board of Secondary Education has clarified that it is not going to base the board examinations for the year 2020 on the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus. In a statement, the board recognized that “in these NCERT books, at certain places, it is mentioned that particular part of the book is not for the purpose of examination or assessment. Similar instructions are given for the information/ question provided in boxes also.” The board has also suggested that the students should access the modified syllabus for class 10 and class 12 at its official site, cbse.nic.in. CBSE is responsible for assigning books for 9, 10, 11 and 12 classes and also moderates the rules and regulations by which the examinations are to supposed to be conducted. It also decides the syllabus for the exams.

In an attempt to ease some pressure from the minds of students, CBSE declared its new initiatives, such as the addition of objective type questions in examinations and 20 marks for the internal assessment/assignments and practicals. And earlier this year, it declared a distinction in the Mathematics subject for class 10, by dividing it into, Mathematics-Standard and Mathematics-Basic, which is meant for students who are not interested to study the subjects further or struggle with its complexity.

CBSE is going to hold the board examinations for class 10th and 12th, for students studying in Indian schools and abroad, from February to March at the designated centers.
