CBSE extends deadline for fee payments till October 31 in view of Covid-19 pandemic

According to officials, on Wednesday the deadline for payment of examination fees for classes 10 and 12 students has been extended by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till October 31 .

Sanyam Bhardwaj, who is the CBSE’s Examination Controller stated that “Considering the problems faced by schools and parents, the authorities have taken the decision to extend the last date for submission of List of Candidates (LOC) for classes 10 and 12 for 2021 board exams. No late fees shall be taken in the extended date from October 15 to 31 and from November 1 to 7 the late fee shall be added”.

Adding on to more information Bhardwaj stated that ” It has come to the notice of CBSE from various sources that because of the situation created due to COVID-19 pandemic schools and parents are facing problems in completing LOC” .

Last week for the 2021 board exams from October 15 to November 14, the Delhi government wrote to CBSE requesting for an extension of the deadline for payment of examination fees .

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, earlier the government for students of classes 10 and 12 in its schools citing financial crunch had  written to the CBSE asking a waiver of the examination fee . However, to waive the examination fees CBSE had expressed its inability.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the letter further stated that , a large number of parents have lost their jobs and their incomes.
