The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently invited affiliated schools to nomination teachers for the Teacher Exchange Programme from India with Japan during 2017-18 from November 5 to 12.

The exchange is happening for the second time and is open for three primary and secondary education teachers along with other teachers from the CBSE affiliated schools. The programme is extended for eight days. Since 2002, such international exchanges have been organised by the Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU).

The primary objective this programme holds is to introduce the Japanese educational system, current Japanese educational situation, and characteristic approach (collaboration with local communities, environment education, club activities etc.) of school education to in-service teachers in elementary and secondary schools; to improve the quality of education in India and Japan by providing opportunities for exchanging their teaching experiences.

The exchange will also create a better understanding of Japanese culture and society; to contribute to building and reinforcement of a network among teachers in India and Japan through visiting schools or an educational conference, and to promote mutual understanding and friendship between India and Japan.

To go for the exchange, the eligibility is to be a National of the Republic of India; Elementary and Secondary Education (Primary School, Upper Primary School, Secondary School or Senior Secondary School) teacher, Non-formal Education centre teacher, school manager or educational administrator in India recommended by their institution.

The aspiring teacher must be highly motivated to exchange his/her teaching experiences and engage activities for mutual understanding with Japanese counterparts during and after the programme. The teacher must be capable to complete all activities throughout the programme and can communicate in English. Three years of teaching experience is recommended.

All of the selected candidates will be directed to complete an evaluation form before leaving for the programme and will be required to submit the report to CEE after returning.
