CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has released some guidelines in favour to provide some relaxation to PwD (Persons with Disabilities) students during the examinations of class 10th and 12th in 2019-20 session.

The categories, which have been provided the concessions are spastic, visually impaired, physically handicapped, dyslexic, autistic and candidates with disabilities defined under Disabilities Act.

The exemptions enlisted are:

  1. CBSE has asked all the schools affiliated with the board to send the answersheets of the students with disabilities separately by the centre superintendents to the concerned regional office. A separate column is to be provided on the title page of the answer book for indicating the category of disability of the student, who is attempting the exam.

2. Students belonging under PwD category will be permitted the use of calculator,       magnifying glass, portable video magnifier. Also the students can use computers for typing answers however, proper and prior permissions are required in these cases.

3. The PwD students have been given the option of studying one compulsory language as against two for other children in class 10th.

Though, the general instructions issued by the board state that the differently abled kids need to produce medical certificated issued by recognized institutes including National Association for the Blind, Spastic Society of India etc. also submit disability certificate(s) issued by non-governmental organisations/practitioners registered with Rehabilitation Council of India/Central governments/state governments to get concessions.
