Delhi Chief Minister Launches Booklet On Ambedkar For School Curricula

Chief Minister of New Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal on Friday launched a booklet on the life and works of BR Ambedkar in the curriculum of classes VI to VIII. The book was launched on the death anniversary of BR Ambedkar known as the ‘Father of the Indian Constitution’. “By recognizing him as the leader of Dalits, people have belittled his contribution to society,” said Chief Minister while launching the textbook.

“Only a few people know about his contribution to the formation of the Reserve Bank of India, Women Empowerment and Farmers welfare. We want to tell everything to our children,” he further said.

CM Kejriwal said the booklet is just the first draft. The next booklet will be improved as per the suggestions of teachers and students. After a few years, we will be able to finish the full syllabus on BR Ambedkar, which can be taught in every school of the country.

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister, Manish Sisodia said Ambedkar cannot be taught in the form of biography.

“We want every student to connect with the problems, caste-based discrimination BR Ambedkar faced in his early life, by sharing his thoughts and ideas to the classrooms,” he said.

The Death Anniversary of BR Ambedkar i.e. 6th December 1956 is observed as ‘Mahaparinirvan Diwas’ across the country. Before his death, he successfully converted into Buddhism.
