Speculations has been seen coming up in light regarding the cancellation of Class 12 CBSE board exams and it is rumored that the board has started planning on the alternate assessment criteria for the Class 12 students incase on exams are held in upcoming times. The board has asked for help form subject experts to devise and design a suitable criteria.

The board has already cancelled the class 10 board exams and a assessment criteria has been already prepared but academic experts suggest that it has both pros and cons to it the board should consider its revision and changes. Earlier, CBSE stated that the situations will be reviewed in the first week of June 2021 and new tentative dates will be released accordingly.

CBSE has released the detailed guidelines and policy for the assessment and result preparation of class 10 which is majorly based on the combined calculation of scores of internal assessments based on the periodic, half yearly and pre-board exams. So it is being emphasized that the same parameters can be implemented in the new criteria being made for Class 12 students.

Although on the other end, Mr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examination, CBSE said that it is too early to make any statement on the examinations of Class 12 and the board is currently focusing more on the evaluation and computation of class 10 results. The board itself has yet not decided to release any policy for Class 12 exams and the speculations are currently only rumours that hold no grounds.

Several Experts including principals of renowned CBSE schools have said that the Internal assessment criteria is a framework which comes with its advantages and disadvantages to the students who have prepared hard for the exams. It unfortunately gives an unfair advantage to students with consistently low scores over other better performing students and hence increases competition in higher studies.
