Employees of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) have recently been asked for furnish details of their income and assets, after it received several complaints of corruption against sections of staff members.
There have been complaints of corruption against employees to the council, authorised to provide recognition to B.Ed colleges and other teacher training institutes.
There have been accusations of processing recognition applications of colleges selectively.
The details, as per officials, were sought from the employees in the past too. Now, although, it has been made mandatory. Commissions website will soon put up the details.
Back in 2015, the Lok Sabha had been informed by the then HRD Minister Smriti Irani, of the establishment of a vigilance wing designed to look into complaints of corruption against NCTE officials.
