The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr. Manish Sisodia has wrote suggestions to the Union Education Minster Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank regarding the tabulation of results for CBSE class 12 students. Mr. Sisodia has suggested that scores from class 10, 11 and class 12 pre-boards should be given weightage in the final results.

Since the class 12 exams are cancelled this year due to the impact of Second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has began the process to formulate a evaluation criteria for students. CBSE has also formed an experts committee of 13 members on June 4th to devise and submit the criteria within 10 days.

In the letter to Dr. nishank, the Deputy CM mentioned that the theory exam of each subject is held out of 70 marks. The weightage of this marks can be broken as 30 from the scores in pre-board exams and 20 marks from results of each class 10 and 11. The rest 30 marks are for practicals which were already conducted before lockdown.

It is also suggested to raise the moderation reference in results to plus 5 or minus 5 for Class 12. Currently, CBSE is considering the moderation of only plus 2 or minus 2 according to the performance of respective schools in past three years. This range of moderation is very short and would not impact much on the results of student.

According to the reports, the evaluation criteria formulated by CBSE would mainly depend on the internal assessments and performance of students in Mid-term exams, pre-board exams and various tests conducted by schools throughout the year. As announced by the PM, the Board has to prepare a well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner.

At the end of his letter, the deputy CM wrote that it is slightly unfair for students to evaluate them on the basis of a criteria about which they are completely unaware. However, the government has no other option in such situations. But we should be prepared in advance with well defined plans if such circumstances also occur in next session.
