In spite of much opposition regarding the conducting of exams, Delhi University is set to prepare an exam date sheet for the final year of all the postgraduate courses. The open book exam (OBE) has been taken in the view of the COVID 19 situation. This decision is considered as an alternate mode for the regular exam and has been taken on May 14.

The circular from the university stated that “..all concerned are hereby requested to propose Date Sheet of all the Post Graduate Programmes of your Faculty/Department/Centre keeping in view the guidelines as per Notification Ref No. Dean (Exams)/02/2019-20 dated 14.05.2020 regarding conduct of examinations for final semester/term/year for the Academic Session 2019-20 in view of COVID-19 and Letter dated 18.05.2020 regarding General Guidelines and preparation of Question Papers based on Open Book Examination (OBE) model for final semester/term/year for 2019-20 in view of COV ID-19 pandemic,”.

Further, the schedule has to be sent to the university within June 4 so that they review it and publish in the website.

Though the exams seem to provide an alternate measure, more than 85% of the student population opposed this verdict, says a survey. Also, the Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) condemned this measure as it will affect those without books and access to notes.

They also reported that this will severely affect the differently-abled students.

When the university faced the questions regarding the internet issues, it replied that the OBE is not an online mode exam. Hence the uploading and downloading will consume ‘minimum internet’ which is available to all.
