UK-based company Varkey foundation has announced Next Billion Edtech prize 2019 and an Indian startup is one amongst three winners. ‘Dost Education,’ a USA based startup run by two Indian ladies Sindhuja Jeyabal and Sneha Seth has bagged $25000 as the prize money. The two other winners, who are going home with the same prize money are Tanzania based company Ubongo and Praxilabs from Egypt.

The event took place at Global Education and Skills Forum (GESF) in UK and total of 6 finalist were chosen to present themselves in front of 1500 delegates. Only three of them earned the prize.

About Dost Education

It is an year old startup established to provide the under privileged students education, by teaching their parents so that they can educate their kids at home. Sneha, one of the two founders of the startup says ” By putting parents at the centre of early childhood development, our vision is that every child is ready to thrive, regardless of their family’s wealth. The idea is to be a ‘Dost’ to parents and enable them to make learning for their kids easier.”

The pilot programme called ‘Dost Ki Pathshala’ help parents of any literacy level to improve their child’s learning outcomes through a pre-recorded audio curriculum.

Though the EWS kids are being provided host of benefits by the government but every child doesn’t get the opportunity to receive the profits under the reservations. This initiative by Dost Education foundation helps the parents of any literacy level to educate their child against no cost.

About Next Billion Edtech Prize

The prize was initiated by the Varkey Foundation to highlight the potential of the technology to tackle the problems that have proven too difficult for successive generations of politicians to solve, according the founder Sunny Varkey. “Our fervert hope is that the prize inspires practical and persistent entrepreneurs the world over to come forward with fresh tech ideas.”
