The registration process for Undergraduate, Post-Graduate, M.Phil and PhD courses starts from May 30th, 2019

DU (Delhi University) commenced its registration process for admission from May 30th. The students are now open to apply for the desired courses online at the official website of Delhi University du.ac.in

After releasing the notification of registration open, one more notification has been released on the website regarding the eligibility criteria for the admission in varied courses.

The students are creating a mess against the increase of eligibility criteria at higher extent of B.Com (Hons) and BA Economics (Hons).

The Matter

Actually previously the eligibility criteria to get admission in these courses was just to pass Mathematics without fixation of any minimum percentage. Now the changes that have been made are as per follows-

– B.Com (Hons) Eligibility Criteria

  • 50% or more marks in Mathematics/Business Mathematics.
  • For the best four subject calculations- An aggregate of 60% or more in English/Hindi and combination of best three among the following subjects: Mathematics, Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies/Commerce.

– BA Economics (Hons)

  • Applicants must have passed in Mathematics in the qualifying examination.
  • For the best four subject calculations- An aggregate of 60% marks or more in Mathematics and in one of the languages as mentioned in the list.

The detailed information of eligibility criteria for these courses and others can be found through the DU website.

The immediate changes in the admission process without any prior information, is creating a hustle for the students, who are likely to take the admission in the above two courses. The students, who were relaxed on their percentage in Mathematics in class 12th are now re-thinking to pursue these courses.

One of the aspirants read to be stating to DU Express, “Help me out guys- I have a Bo4 (Best of Four) of 95%, but I scored 49 marks in Maths. The bulletin says one has to score atleast 50% in Maths for B.Com Hons. Can anything be done? I don’t want to miss out for 1 mark.”

Not only the aspirants but the DU passed students are also protesting against the decision. “While we encourage such criterion, the timing of the criterion is absurd. This will render kids with dreams of studying these courses, who thought they were eligible to study these subjects helpless,” said a Shri Ram College Alumni.

The registration to admission in various courses is open now- Undergraduate, Post-Graduate, M.Phil and P.H.D. Look for the dates and timing on the DU website.
