The second list of DU cut-offs released on Friday giving the picture of ease in percentage across courses, but even so, when put altogether, it is still on a higher end.

Cut-offs for popular courses such as BA, English (Hons), BCom (Hons), Political Science (Hons) and Physics (Hons) saw very little fall ranging between 0.25-1%. In the meantime, popular colleges have tried keeping their cut-offs above 95% in order to avoid over-admission.

At Shri Ram College of Commerce, the cut-off for BCom (Hons) has come down to 97.5% from 97.75%. Out of 501 seats available, the college has already had 400 seats filled.

According to the policy of Delhi University, every applicant meeting the cut-off will be given admission. Adding to this, university officials comment that there is no need for the students to panic. Despite high cut-offs, there is much room left for admission. Of the total 56,000 seats available in the university, only 14,000 have been occupied as of yet, and 42,000 are still up for admission.

Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College had set the highest cut-off this year for most subjects in the first list. This resulted in zero admission in the general category. For Political Science (Hons), which saw a 99% cut-off in the first list, the figure has come down by 1.75 percentage point to 97.25%. But, Geography, Sociology, Botany, Zoology and similar courses saw a dip varying from 0.5-2%.

Hindu College and Lady Shri Ram College for Women are exceptions with admissions closed for most courses, despite high cut-offs in first list.

Applicants who meet the eligibility of the second cut-off list can apply for admission from July 1 to July 4. Third cut-off list is scheduled to come out on July 7. Students who met the first cut-off but weren’t able to apply for admission then, can do it by July 4, however, admission is subjected to availability of seats.
