On July 6, Thursday, the Delhi University (DU) released its third cut-off list. As expected, admissions to the most desired courses in popular colleges such as Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Hindu College and Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College are closed. But, there are some seats that are still up for admission.

The popular colleges kept their cut-off above 90%, taking out but a margin of percentage from the second cut-offs, ranging from 0.25%-1.5%.

For the general category, admissions at SRCC are closed in reference to both BCom (Hons) and Economics (Hons). However, SC/ST candidates can still apply for BCom (Hons) and OBC and ST candidates for Economics (Hons).

In a similar fashion, 11 courses out of 18 at Hindu College have no seats left that are up for grabs. But, the third list has some seats for Statistics (Hons) as some students withdrew admission. The cut-off for the same is 96.5%. With the same cut-off as the second, Economics (Hons) and Mathematics (Hons) are still open for admission, at 97.25% and 96.75% respectively. For Sociology (Hons), however, there is a percentage dip of 1% in the third list.

LSR College has closed admission for about all of its courses and those few left still have a cut-off above the bar of 97%. The college has reopened admissions for Economics (Hons) at 97.5%.

Admissions at Gargi College and Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women have also closed for a majority of courses. Aspirants, however, can still apply to colleges such as Kirori Mal College, Hansraj, Ramjas, Indraprastha College for Women and Miranda House where admissions to most courses are still open.

In a desperate attempt, SGTB Khalsa College has dropped the cut-off in this list drastically. For many courses, the drop ranges from 1%-3%. For language courses, the drop is astounding. Punjabi (Hons) cut-off fell down by 23.75% and Hindi (Hons) by 10.75%. Before the release of the third cut-off list, the college had admitted only 50 students, a majority being from non-general category.

Even for popular courses, seats at the south and off-campus colleges are vacant, resulting in a sharp drop of 1%-3% in the cut-offs.

At Sri Venkateswara College, even popular courses such as BCom (Hons) and English (Hons) have many vacancies. However, Sanskrit (Hons), against the trend, along with Chemistry is full.

Some colleges from this list including Mata Sundri College, Kalindi College, PGDAV, Satyawati Evening College, Shaheed Bhagat College, nevertheless, have closed down admissions to most popular courses.

July 7-10 have been scheduled for admission on the basis of the third list. The fourth list will be released on July 13.
