The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has declared an Infinite strike on Wednesday over a circular mandating appointment of Guest Teachers to be revoked. The strike has affected the ongoing campus examinations as DUTA has asked all teachers to withdraw their exams duties.

The commitment to go on a strike has been based on August 28 DU circular which commands the only appointment of guest teachers can be made against the essential vacancies occurring for the first time in the current academic session.

The DUTA wrote letters on Tuesday to the UGC (University Grant Commission) and MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) to interrupt immediately and end the crisis which has emerged due to a letter issued by the university.

Vice Chancellor was criticized for not taking any action which compelled the teacher to take tough decisions like staying away from evaluation, invigilation, and other official duties.

“Superintendents and Deputy Superintendents were urged to resign and relieve themselves from any other examination related duties. However, they requested not to stop the students from taking exams,” said DUTA.

The DUTA further said “It will organize a massive protest and gherao against the vice-chancellor. We will ensure the evaluation of Boycott. We will also meet the principals of schools who have encouraged the appointment of ad-hoc teachers for a temporary basis and have not released their salaries.”
