The Delhi University Teacher’s Association has decided on Thursday to continue the strike till March 8, 2019, from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar, New Delhi and have continued to stick to their demands of scrapping “absorption”, referring to appointment and promotion rules that have been acquired by the university’s administration putting career of over 4000 teachers at stake.

“Absorption” refers to the process by which the regular and necessary teachers should be appointed permanently in their respective departments.

The DUTA General Body Meeting (GBM) have also demanded against the ordinance passed considering department as a unit to calculate reservation for faculty positions.

The Body has been observed to strike against the authorities since Wednesday, and during the meeting, it was decided that the strike will continue to last till March 8, which was earlier scheduled to end today.

Teachers also called for and supported for ‘Bharat Bandh’ on March 5 which completed a year to the letter scrapped the 200 point reservation which determined university to be considered as a unit for calculating faculty positions.

The association also conducted GBM to conduct ‘College-wise Dharnas’ on March 6 for gathering students along in the protest.

They decided to march from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar sticking to their demands on March 7, 2019, also criticizing the cross-border terrorism.
